I'm singing with Danny Ellis the Fella from Artane
SINGING WITH DANNY ELLIS, THE FELLA FROM ARTANE
Browsing in the bookstore
near the cozy Cote D'Or,
I found a fellow Dubliner
I never met before.
His voice it was familiar,
his story just like mine,
For we sing, and work and wonder
While the healing takes its time.
.
Then I took his book and read it
Feeling hard against the throat
The pain, the knot, nostalgia
Of the fairy tale he wrote.
He was hard in Artane
And me in Legion jail;
We're both of us survivors
Living far beyond the Pale.
So I feel him like a brother
For we both had to endure;
The Irish Christian Brothers
and Padre Maciel's manure.
But we're singing loud and hearty
and laughing full of joy,
You can't keep us down forever
We're the bauld auld Dublin boys.
